How to Merge PDF Files Into One Document

To merge PDF files, you copy every page of several documents, in the order you choose, into a single PDF. Merge PDF does this for free in your browser, with no account and no watermark. Your files are processed on your device and are not sent anywhere.

Merging helps when documents belong together: an invoice with its receipts, a contract with its appendices, or scanned pages you want to send as one attachment.

How to merge PDF files

1. 1 Open Merge PDF and drop your files on the page, or select several at once from your device. The drop area stays available, so you can add more files later.
2. 2 Each file appears as a card showing its first page, its name and its page count. The number on the card is its position in the merged document.
3. 3 Drag the cards to change the order. The row of buttons under the cards does the same with arrows, moving a file one place at a time.
4. 4 To remove a file, hover over its card and click the × button. Clear all removes every file at once.
5. 5 Click the Merge and download button. It needs at least two files.
6. 6 The result downloads as merged.pdf. Rename it before you share it, so the recipient knows what it contains.

What the merge keeps

Merge PDF works on whole files: every page of each file is copied into the new document, in the order of the cards. Pages are copied without re-encoding, so text stays text and images keep their original quality.

You cannot pick single pages inside a file or reorder pages one by one in this tool. The tools in the next section handle both, before or after the merge.

Reorder or remove pages after merging

To move single pages, open merged.pdf in the Organize tool: every page appears as a thumbnail that you can drag, rotate or delete. Wait for the last thumbnail before you change or save anything: a copy saved earlier holds only the pages already shown. Organize has no step-by-step undo, only Reset changes, which restores the original pages, so keep merged.pdf until the new version looks right.

To drop a few pages, Delete Pages lets you select them on thumbnails and remove them. If you only need part of a file, take those pages out first with Extract Pages, then merge the extracted file with the others.

After the download, the "File ready" panel offers to continue with Compress, Sign, Watermark or Split. The merged file is passed along, so you do not have to select it again.

File size, number of files and privacy

There is no account, no daily quota and no usage counter. Merge PDF has no file size cap and no fixed number of files: only your device's memory matters.

Because the merge runs in your browser, the files are not sent anywhere, and there is no upload to wait for.

A PDF protected by a password is not supported, even one that opens without asking for it: its pages can come out blank. Remove the protection with Unlock first, then merge the unlocked copy. You need the password, or, for a file that opens freely but blocks printing or copying, the permissions password its author set. Unlock is a server tool: that file is sent over HTTPS to the ProPDF server in Paris, which processes it and then deletes it.
