How it works

   Add your PDFs Drop the files on the upload area or click it to select several at once. Each file becomes a card that shows its first page and its page count.

   Add more files if needed The upload area stays on screen, so you can drop more PDFs at any time. New files join the end of the list.

   Set the order Drag the cards into the order you want; each card is numbered with the place its pages will take in the result. The small arrows in the row under the cards move a file one place at a time.

   Remove a file Use the cross on a card to take that file out, or Clear all to empty the list and start again.

   Merge and download Press Merge and download: the button stays disabled until the list holds at least two files. The download of merged.pdf starts as soon as the merge is done.

How the files are combined

The merge works on whole files: all the pages of the first card come first, then all the pages of the second, and so on. You set the order of the files, not of single pages, and you cannot leave out part of a file here.

Each page is copied into the new document as it is, without being converted. Text stays selectable and images keep their resolution. A PDF protected by a password is the exception: it is not supported, even when it opens without asking for one, so remove the protection first with Unlock PDF if you know the password. The bookmarks of each file, its layers and its properties, such as the title, do not come along: a hidden layer becomes visible, and a link to a named destination leads nowhere. If the content of a page is too large to check or cannot be read for sure, a message tells you that the file may keep fonts or images that no page shows.

The line above the cards shows how many files and pages the merged document will have, so you can check the total before you press the button.

Choosing pages before or after the merge

To use only some pages of a file, prepare it first: Split PDF or Extract PDF Pages saves the pages you need as a new PDF, which you then add here.

To fine-tune the result, open merged.pdf in Organize PDF, where you can move, rotate, duplicate or delete individual pages.

When the download starts, the "File ready" panel offers to continue with Compress PDF, Sign PDF, Watermark or Split PDF. The merged file opens in the tool you pick, without selecting it again.

Files you can add

• • PDF files only: other formats need to be converted to PDF first.
• • Several files in one go. If one of them cannot be read, an error message appears and the other files are still added.
• • The same file more than once, for example to repeat a cover page between two documents.
• • Large sets of files, within what your device's memory can handle. They simply take longer to load and to merge.
