Extract PDF Pages
Pick single pages or ranges and save them as a new PDF
Extract pages from a PDF when you only need part of it: the signed page of a contract, one chapter of a manual, the three invoices a client asked for. Click those pages on their thumbnails or type their numbers, and they are saved in a new PDF that shows only those pages. Your browser builds the new file, so the PDF is processed on your device and not sent anywhere.
Each page is copied with its content untouched, without being redrawn or compressed again: text you could select in the original stays selectable, and pictures keep their resolution. Your original is not modified, and a file named manual.pdf comes back as manual_extracted.pdf.
This page runs on the same engine as Split PDF, which explains the labels on screen: the options sit under Split mode and the button reads Split and download. You can also extract several parts in one go, each saved as its own PDF inside a ZIP archive.
How to extract pages from a PDF
-
Open the PDF Drag the file onto the box that says Drop your PDF here, or press Choose a file to browse for it. Its name and page count appear under Document, and each page shows as a thumbnail under Document pages.
-
Click the pages you want Manual selection is active when the file opens. Click a thumbnail to select it and click it again to deselect it, or use All and None. The panel counts the selected pages and writes them as a list, such as 2, 5-7.
-
Or type their numbers Choose By ranges and type the pages in the field under Page ranges, for example 3, 8-10. Every page in that list goes into the same new PDF.
-
Get several files at once Put a semicolon between two lists, as in 1-4; 9-12, to receive one file per list instead of a single file.
-
Download Press Extract and download. For a file named name.pdf, a single file arrives as name_extracted.pdf, and several files arrive together in name_split.zip.
Typing the page numbers
- A single page: type its number, such as 4.
- A run of pages: join the first and last page with a hyphen, such as 12-18. The smaller number comes first.
- Scattered pages in one file: separate them with commas, such as 1, 4, 9-11.
- One file per part: separate the parts with semicolons, such as 1-3; 10-12. Inside name_split.zip, the parts are numbered in the order you typed them: name_part1.pdf, then name_part2.pdf.
- The same page in several files: a page may belong to more than one part, so 1, 5-8; 1, 9-12 gives two files that both start with page 1.
Page order inside the new file
Pages always keep the order they have in the original, whatever order you click or type them in: 9, 2 gives a file with page 2 first, then page 9. A page listed twice in the same part is saved only once.
To put the extracted pages in another order, open the new file in Organize and drag the thumbnails where you want them. Organize can also turn a page that came out sideways.
Messages and quick fixes
- "That page number does not exist in this document." means the list includes 0 or a number higher than the page count shown under Document.
- A message saying the start page must be less than or equal to the end page points to a range written backward, such as 8-3: write 3-8 instead.
- "Invalid range format. Use: 1-3, 5, 7-10" means that one part of the field is neither a page number nor a range such as 3-8. Separate pages with commas and parts with semicolons, and remove any letters, periods or other signs.
- Clicking a thumbnail has no effect outside Manual selection. Switch back to that mode to pick pages by clicking.
- In Manual selection, Split and download stays disabled until you select a page; in By ranges, until you type something in the field.
Other ways to cut a document
Split mode offers two more options on this page. All pages saves every page as its own PDF, and Every N pages cuts the document into parts of equal length, set in Pages per file, with the last part holding the pages left over.
When you want to keep most of a document and drop just a few pages, Delete Pages lets you point at the pages to remove rather than list the ones to keep.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I extract a single page from a PDF?
Click its thumbnail in Manual selection, or choose By ranges and type its number, then press Extract and download. You get a one-page PDF: for a file named name.pdf, it is name_extracted.pdf.
Can I extract pages in a different order?
Not in one step. The new file keeps the original order, so typing 7, 3 puts page 3 first. Open the result in Organize to rearrange it.
How do I save each part as a separate file?
In By ranges, separate the parts with semicolons, for example 1-2; 6-9. Each part becomes its own PDF, and they download together in a ZIP archive.
Do the extracted pages lose quality?
No. Each page is taken from the original as it is, fonts and images included, so nothing is converted or compressed again. One exception: a PDF protected by a password is not supported, even one that opens without asking for it, so remove the protection first with Unlock PDF if you know the password.
Are bookmarks kept in the new file?
No. The new PDF is built from the pages alone, so the bookmarks of the original and its document properties, such as the title, are not carried over. Nor are its layers: a hidden layer becomes visible, and a link to a named destination leads nowhere.
Can pages I left out still be in the new file?
Not as pages: a page you left out is not copied, even when a page you keep links to it, as a table of contents entry does, and that link then leads nowhere. Images, fonts and drawings that only pages left out use are removed too. What can stay, out of sight, is the other half of a two-page spread, and all that a page shares with others when the tool cannot read its content for sure or when that content is too large to check, which a message then tells you. If that matters for a confidential extract, turn the pages into images with PDF to JPG, then rebuild the file with JPG to PDF.
What is the downloaded file called?
A single result takes the original name with _extracted added: name.pdf becomes name_extracted.pdf. A set of parts arrives in name_split.zip, the archive of Split PDF, whose engine Extract Pages shares. You can rename the file once it is saved.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser copies the pages itself, so the file is not sent anywhere, and the only size limit is your device's memory.
